Why the Move to .co.uk?
I would love to tell you that there was some big identity/nice reason to it, but our last provider was just rotten and we've lost the domain name. That said, we've tried to use this as an opportunity. The new site should bring a cleaner, faster, and more flexible experience no matter the device you're viewing on.
This will help us provide more focus on the free content offerings we have, such as match analysis, interviews, etc. It’s also a helluva lot easier to design and maintain, so I can spend less time cosplaying as a coder and more time cosplaying as an editor.
Introducing Ruaraidh Blackwood and Marc Christie
It was never the intention that this was going to be a solo venture. I think you would very quickly get sick of that! And, as cheesy as it sounds, I feel like we’re onto something with The Steelmen Dispatch. It only makes sense to try and get bigger and better. With that said, with growth comes collaboration — and that’s where Ruaraidh and Marc come in.
Both will be joining in immediately as part of the core writing team behind the Dispatch. Declan will remain editor, so if they make any mistakes please send the necessary hate mail to him (but please appreciate Ruaraidh and Marc’s writing!).
Ruaraidh Blackwood joins the Dispatch as our Growth & Engagement lead, with a focus on audience growth, analytics, social media, and digital reach.
Marc Christie, meanwhile, joins as a Business and Partnership Lead. His focus will be on the business and outreach side of the Dispatch — partnerships, launches, and long-term growth. He understands what it takes to build something sustainable, and his addition ensures that as the Dispatch grows, it remains rooted in the same purpose it started with: giving fans something of real quality.
What’s Next
With this expanded team and new digital home, the next few months will be about refinement, expansion, and ambition.
Issue 2 is about to hit the printers. We're hoping to get this into punters' hands by the semi-final.
Issue 3 is already in motion, with a renewed editorial process and stronger visuals.
The online platform will grow to include stats, match analysis, and long-form features built to rival national coverage.
And beyond that, The Steelmen Dispatch will begin forming part of a broader creative movement — something we’ll share more about soon.
Anyway, that’s enough of that. Back to the real stuff. Thanks for being a part of it, and see you at Fir Park soon.
COYW,
Declan, Ruaraidh, & Marc
